One instructor, one student, and the people who rescue surfers for a living teaching you how to read the ocean. You leave knowing how to surf, and knowing when and where to surf, anywhere.
Most people learn surfing the hard way: in the lineup, over years, by getting it wrong. Our goal is for you to learn it from us instead. Every lesson is taught by an ocean rescue professional, and every lesson is one-on-one.
No groups, no waiting your turn, no instructor splitting attention between six beginners. One instructor is in the water with you for the entire session, on your waves, at your pace. The ratio is always 1:1.
Where waves come from, why they break where they do, how rips and currents move, how to pick a peak, and the etiquette of a lineup that nobody writes down. You will feel confident in your abilities no matter where you surf next.
Every Pacific Safety Group instructor teaches surfing. Our people are current and former professional ocean lifeguards and rescue instructors. Reading this water is what they do for a living, and it shows in how they teach it.
After two hours in the water, we spend the final hour on land with the online forecasting tools surfers actually use. Swell size, period and direction. Wind, tide, and how each one changes a spot. By the end you can look at a forecast for any beach and answer the questions that matter:

Three hours, built around you. We choose the beach on the day for the best conditions at your level, and we bring everything you need.
Safety and ocean awareness first, then paddling, positioning, timing, pop-ups and wave selection, with your instructor beside you the whole time. Experienced surfers work on whatever is holding them back.
The forecasting tools, explained on a real forecast for a real spot, so the next decision about when and where to surf is one you make yourself.
Booking two or more people? Each surfer gets their own instructor. Tell us how many and we'll line up the staff.
Book a lesson$250 for a three-hour session: two hours in the water and one hour on land learning to read surf forecasts. If you only want water time, surf lessons are $200 per hour. Fire, police and military discounts are available; just ask.
Always. Every lesson is one instructor to one student. Families and friends can book side by side, but each surfer gets their own instructor for the whole session.
Nothing but a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. Board, wetsuit and leash are included with every lesson.

Any and all ages, from young kids to retirees, complete beginners to surfers who want to understand what they are looking at. Sessions are built around the person in front of us.
